Is WordPress Good for SEO?

We get asked a lot about WordPress’ suitability for search engine rankings. WordPress’ reputation and having a sound foundation for SEO has certainly seeped into the public’s mind. This site, TastyPlacement.com runs on WordPress, and ranks very well for our intended keywords. There are a few drawbacks with WordPress, but like most things SEO, it’s really about the cumulative effect of everything. Overall, we’d grade WordPress an A- on it’s suitability and power for SEO purposes. Is WordPress Good for SEO? WordPress generates a very search-friendly URL stucture. Because the WordPress community is so large, the variety and number of plug-ins for SEO support has grown tremendously. The All in One SEO Plug-In, or the Platinum SEO Pack are both quick and easy “One stop” plug-ins that accomplish a basic, but sound set of SEO goals such as manual Title Tags and Meta Descriptions. These plug-ins extend WordPress’ functionality to rival the control and customization you would achieve under a static site. Another great feature of WordPress, which is also shared by other blogging platforms is the “New content bump”. Pings, Comments and Trackbacks are interactive features built into WP-these supplemental tools let other blogs and individuals interact with a WordPress site: this brings inbound links and traffic, and free content and visitors. It’s not all rosy: I see a lot of poorly designed themes that undercut WordPress’ SEO power. The h1 tag should speak to the subject/topic of each page or post-to repeat an h1 tag mindlessly throughout hundred of pages on a blog is a waste of a valuable SEO tool. When it comes to menu presentation in WordPress, I have learned “The wisdom to recognize that which I cannot change”.

SSL Certificates Charles Web Debugging Proxy

Charles generates its own certificates for sites, which it signs using a Charles Root Certificate, which is uniquely generated for your installation of Charles. You will see a warning in your browser, or other application, when it receives that certificate because the Charles Root Certificate is not in your list of trusted root certificates. You can choose to permanently trust each site’s certificate as you encounter it, in which case you do not need to trust the Charles Root Certificate. If you would like to automatically trust every certificate issued by Charles, continue with these instructions. The following instructions are for different browsers and applications to help you trust your Charles Root Certificate so you no longer see certificate warnings. Note that the Charles Root Certificate approach changed with version 3.10 of Charles, so if you have already followed this procedure for an older version of Charles you will need to do it again. App and navigate to General > About > Certificate Trust Settings, and find the Charles Proxy certificate, and switch it on to enable full trust for it. As of tvOS 10.2 it is no longer possible to trust the Charles Root Certificate, so it is not possible to use SSL Proxying with tvOS 10.2. As of Android N, you need to add configuration to your app in order to have it trust the SSL certificates generated by Charles SSL Proxying. Chrome will now always trust certificates signed by Charles. You can add your Charles Root Certificate to your root certificate trust store in Java, then all Java applications will trust the certificates that Charles issues. You should add the Charles root certificate to that cacerts file if you want applets running in your browser to trust Charles. You can configure requests to trust your Charles Root Certificate. First save your certificate as a.pem file using the Help > SSL Proxying > Save Charles Root Certificate menu.

What is the SSL Certificate Chain?

In order for an SSL certificate to be trusted, that certificate must have been issued by a CA that is included in the trusted store of the device that is connecting. If the certificate was not issued by a trusted CA, the connecting device will then check to see if the certificate of the issuing CA was issued by a trusted CA, and so on until either a trusted CA is found or no trusted CA can be found. The list of SSL certificates, from the root certificate to the end-user certificate, represents the SSL certificate chain. Certificate 1 is your end-user certificate, the one you purchase from the CA. The certificates from 2 to 5 are called intermediate certificates. Certificate 6, the one at the top of the chain, is called root certificate. Awesome, you must bundle all the intermediate certificates and install them along with your end-user certificate. If the SSL certificate chain is invalid or broken, your certificate will not be trusted by some devices. The procedure to install the Intermediate SSL certificates depends on the web server and the environment where you install the certificate. Conversely, NGINX requires you to package the intermediate SSL certificates in a single bundle with the end-user certificate. If your server is not on the wizard, you can still obtain the proper files through it and then follow the documentation of your web server to determine how to properly install your domain certificate and intermediate certificates. What happens if I don’t install an Intermediate SSL certificate? If you don’t install one or more intermediate SSL certificate, you break the certificate chain. When a device cannot find a trusted issuer for a certificate, the certificate and the entire chain from the intermediate certificate down to the final cerficate can’t be trusted. Ideally, you should promote the certificate that represents your Certificate Authority, in this way the chain will consist in just two certificates.

The Ideal Yoast WordPress SEO Plugin Settings

The Yoast SEO Plugin by Joost De Valk is the most robust WordPress SEO plugin out there, but it must be setup and used properly if you want the best results for your WordPress SEO. You can break Yoast down into 3 steps: configuring the Yoast settings, researching focus keywords, and creating optimized pages with the help of green lights. Yoast SEO Premium is $69/year and includes a redirect manager, the option to set multiple focus keywords, social previews, and support from the Yoast team. Multiple Focus Keywords – there is a specific strategy for optimizing content for multiple focus keywords. Secondary keywords are often included as partial matches which means the content analysis checklist is virtually useless since Yoast only detects exact keyword matches. Find long-tail keywords in Autocomplete + Keyword ExplorerWrite down all relevant phrases so you have a robust keyword list. Moz Keyword ExplorerTo make sure you don’t miss any keywords from Google Autocomplete, use Moz Keyword Explorer which is like Google Keyword Planner only better. If you’re copying/pasting focus keywords throughout your content to make Yoast happy, stop it right now. Yoast premium allows up to 5, but if you don’t have success with 1 keyword then don’t try 2. Yoast only detects keywords in the main content body and search engine snippet. Keyword Density – include your keyword in the first couple sentences and sprinkle it a few times in the content. If the image resembles your focus keyword, use it in the file name, but do NOT stuff keywords in your alt text. Targeting Multiple Keywords – I touched on this in the Yoast SEO Premium section, but here’s an example. You do not need to purchase Yoast SEO Premium to target secondary keywords – just use tools like Google Autocomplete to find a secondary keyword, then sprinkle it.13. I know there’s a lot to configuring the Yoast SEO plugin settings, focus keywords, and optimizing content.
